Xperia Z5

Sony’s new standard Xperia offering – the Z5 – sports a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display serving up a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Sony has bundled in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, built on top of a 64-bit architecture. The smartphone itself will be offered in white, graphite black, gold, and green color variants with a dual SIM option also available in specific markets. As you would expect from a newly announced device, the Z5 will ship running Android 5.1 Lollipop.

For the photography conscious out there the regular Xperia Z5 will come equipped with a 23-megapixel rear shooter with an Exmor RS image sensor built specifically for mobile and is capable of 4K video recording. On the front, the Z5 will carry a very capable 5-megapixel front-facing camera for those professional looking selfies. The phone packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 200GB through the microSD slot.

Xperia Z5 Compact

Sony’s Xperia Z5 Compact offering continues with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit chipset. The hardware will ship running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and comes equipped with the same 23-megapixel camera that adorns its bigger brother. The “Compact” name assigned to the Z5 Compact is derived from its’ 4.6-inch display size, which services up a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

The Z5 Compact will benefit from 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 200GB. The display is protected via a chemically tempered glass and anti-fingerprint coating, just like the standard Z5. Sony will be offering the Xperia Z5 Compact in white, graphite black, yellow, and coral color options.

Xperia Z5 Premium

And now we get to the Xperia Z5 Premium, Sony’s biggest announcement today. The X5 Premium will offer a large 5.5-inch display to consumers, with a 4K 3840 x 2160 IPS display. Like the standard Z5, the Premium variant will ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit processor with an accompanying 3GB of RAM. The device itself weighs in at a fairly respectable 180 grams and will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed.

Potential consumers can expect an extremely capable 23-megapixel rear shooter with an Exmor RS image sensor, fast autofocus, and 4K video capture and output. The premium nature of the Xperia Z5 Premium is not only brought to life by the stunning 4K display, but also the fact that this particular model ships in chrome, black, or gold.

Sony has announced that the Z5 and Z5 Compact will launch globally this coming October. The Z5 Premium will follow closely behind in November. There’s no word yet on the price tags for each of these smartphones.
