The Galaxy S6 – Project Zero – has been teasing us with spec leaks for a while now, with appearances of the purported device on the famous AnTuTu benchmarking app, revealing its hardware package. However, we haven’t seen a proper photo with a good angle hinting at the design of Samsung’s next big phone, until maybe now, with photos of a unibody metal frame allegedly belonging to the Galaxy S6.
Nowhereelse has released photos of what they claim to be the metal chassis of the Galaxy S6, and they look to be metal indeed. What’s more, is that the slightly protruding corners on what is likely the bottom end of the frame takes a lot of design cues from the Galaxy Alpha and Note 4.
However, there are no means of verifying the authenticity of these photo leaks and you could be looking at some shells for external hard drives, if you want to keep an open mind given how rumors work.
We do know that the new Galaxy S front-runner has a lot to make up for given the sad state of affairs with the Galaxy S5, which is why the S6 is being kept in high secrecy and has reportedly been designed from scratch to help it stand out as more than just a beefed up last-gen device, which is exactly what the S5 suffered from with the presence of the popular S4.
In light of those AnTuTu benchmark leaks, it is important to note that according to an import record in India, a Samsung device bearing the SM-G920F model number has entered the country for R&D purpose and is not a retail unit. The AnTuTu benchmark detailed a device bearing the model number SM-G925F, so how many variants of the S6 are out there right now, that is if one of them is the S6?
The latest rumor that has me with my fingers crossed, is that we may see the S6 sporting a display that will be curved on both sides of the screen, and with Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge already proving it can be done on one side, what’s stopping the S6 from taking it one step further?
Let’s just hope we hear more from the Galaxy S6 in the days to come.
