Samsung Galaxy S4 Outsells HTC One 2-to-1

S4-vs-One

Samsung seems to have gotten efficiency down to a fine art, and with a device built to sell and sell well, the plan appears to have worked a treat. 10 million in one month is very impressive indeed, and considering the Galaxy S III took around 50 days to achieve the feat, the influence of this particular range looks to be increasing with time.

With such a huge marketing budget (we'll let you decide for yourselves as to whether it is being spent wisely), there was never a feeling that the Galaxy S4 would not shift huge numbers, and so it has proved.

The Korean company also took the opportunity to announce a bunch of upcoming new color configurations of the Galaxy S4, including Blue Arctic, Red Aurora, Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn. So if you're holding out something a little more vibrant than those shades currently available, you won't have to wait much longer.

With rumors of high-level HTC execs jumping off what has been reported as a sinking ship, it's really hard to tell whether the HTC One has sold 5 million, or whether the company is simply clutching at straws. But sooner or later, the real numbers will be revealed, and if 5 million consumers have indeed turned out to purchase the device, it would be fair to say that the company is back and mixing it with the big boys.

Early sales figures of the two biggest flagship Android smartphones thus far this year have shown once again that when it comes to overall consumer appeal, the Samsung Galaxy S series is still head and shoulders above the rest. The 10 million handsets shifted in first month of the latest and greatest Galaxy S4 is double the unofficial 5 million quoted sales of the HTC One in the same timeframe, but with the Taiwanese company still managing to flog the unibody device at a quicker rate than it can make them, its own sales figures are certainly not to be baulked at.

Since the HTC numbers aren’t official by any means, it would be rather premature to begin touting the company’s complete image makeover as a successful one. But it seems beyond doubt that the once "quietly brilliant" company is now a much louder, has more forceful presence in the mobile space once again.
