Samsung Galaxy S4 Gold Edition Announced, As Expected

Apple’s iPhone range may, up until last week, been a pretty monochrome affair, but rivaling vendors have, for a number of years, been offering plenty of variations to consumers looking for something a bit different. Yet while we’ve seen most colors – from Glamor Reds to Pebble Blues – the Gold iPhone 5s seemed to strike something of a chord, selling out in hours and with the odd few appearing on eBay for extortionate sums. Naturally, Samsung had been planning a gold version of its flagship Galaxy S4 all along, and although it seems to be a luxury product aimed at the more affluent consumer, it’s almost as if neither of the industry’s so-called Big Two can allow the other any hint of one-upmanship.

The much sought-after iPhone 5s arrived last Friday in three different colors, but while Space Gray was very similar to the darker iPhone 5 and the Silver model almost identical to its White & Silver predecessor, it was the new, Gold version that made the most noise.

The gold version, or should we say versions of the Galaxy S4 have just been showcased in the United Arab Emirates, so it’s fairly safe to assume it will probably not be of the same price as the standard model.

The Gold Edition Galaxy S4 arrives in two variations – Gold Pink and Gold Brown – both of which look a great deal better than they actually sound.

The chances of either mode making it to the worldwide market would appear slim, but if you’re planning a trip to the UAE any time soon and are indeed partial to a gold smartphone, then perhaps you may be swayed by these tasty new models.

There’s no word, as yet, on pricing, or if the Gold devices are still laden in plastic, but judging by the images alone, we’d certainly be interested to see whether they’re as impressive in the flesh as they appear in the press shots.

What do you think – does the Gold Edition Galaxy S 4 float your boat? Or are you already sold on the Gold version of the iPhone 5s? Do share your thoughts and comments with us below, it’s always great to hear from you!
