Samsung’s Galaxy S23 lineup is now official and it is already available for pre-order. But those upgrading from the Galaxy S22 Ultra to the Galaxy S23 Ultra will immediately notice one big change.
That change isn’t the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that powers these new phones. Nor is it the 200-megapixel camera that the Galaxy S23 Ultra has to offer.
The real difference is the flatter display.
While Samsung has been one of the companies to stick to curved screens even as others moved away from them, the company has now confirmed to 9to5Google that the new model is 30% flatter than those that came before it.
The result, Samsung says, is a display that is slightly larger.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s expansive 6.8-inch edge display is sharper than the Galaxy S22 Ultra, as the display has a reduced curvature by 30% to create a larger and flatter surface area by ~3% for the best visual experience on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
While those new to the Galaxy S lineup might not notice the change, those who are upgrading are sure to recognize that the display that they touch is flatter than before. Some may prefer the curved design, but we’d wager that those people would very much be in the minority.
The new Galaxy S23 lineup is available for pre-order now starting at $799. The lineup goes on sale officially on February 17.
