We’ve been privy to a lot of speculation and conjecture pertaining to Apple’s next-generation iPhone over the last few months, and while that definitely ignites excitement within Apple hardware enthusiasts, it doesn’t exactly do a great deal for those who prefer their smartphones to have more of an Android flavor. The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 hype is taking care of that front, and while rumors and speculations remains far and few, it appears we now have a release date for the Korean-company’s next gen. phablet.
This particular piece of information comes in from a reliable source, one that has proven to be pretty accurate in the last couple of years when it comes to blowing the lid of unreleased smartphones and tablets. Step forward serial leaker Evan Blass of @evleaks Twitter fame, who is suggesting that Samsung could be looking at a mid-August release date for its upcoming sixth-generation Galaxy Note.
Blass believes that the phablet could be looking at a release somewhere in August this year, which is roughly the same time when Samsung launched the Note 5.
In a tweet today, Blass said:
Samsung Galaxy Note 6 US release scheduled for week of August 15th.
Blass has a fairly impressive level of historical accuracy when it comes to sharing information about specifications and potential release dates of future devices. So with that in mind, even though there’s no additional information about his source for this information, there’s also no obvious reason to suspect that this expected launch date for the hardware will not be accurate. As the tweet suggests, this does only relate to the United States launch of Samsung’s latest Android-powered “phablet”. It’s likely that a global launch in additional territories will follow closely afterwards.
Samsung recently went to market with the gorgeous Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets, but for some Android lovers, those devices just didn’t hit the mark. Samsung will not only be looking to build on the popularity of the previous-generation Note hardware, but will also be looking to capture the remaining market that wasn’t sold on the S7 models by introducing a larger display with a potentially beefier, more performant internal specification that will hopefully blow away previous Note hardware in terms of performance and overall user-experience.
As we approach August, it’s highly likely that we will start to see more information falling into the public domain about the potential specification and design of the Galaxy Note 6. As always, as soon as that information becomes public knowledge, or as soon as we hear any rumors whatsoever that have a semblance of reality, we will make sure to let you know instantly.
