Samsung has today announced a whole new Galaxy S22 lineup with prices starting at $799 for the Samsung Galaxy S22.
All of the new devices build on previous offerings and the design is almost identical to the Galaxy S21 lineup that was announced last year. However, there are differences.
Samsung Galaxy S22 from $799
The new Galaxy S22 is the cheapest of the new devices and starts at $799 for a 6.1-inch display.
Storage options start at 128GB and top out at 256GB with 8GB of RAM. All of this is backed up by a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm chip.
Camera-wise, a new 50-megapixel camera has a larger sensor than before with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, 10-megapixel telephoto camera, and 10-megapixel selfie camera rounding things out.
Samsung Galaxy S22+ from $999
The larger Galaxy S22+ comes with a 6.6-inch display and uses the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm processor. It also has the same cameras as the Galaxy S22, with the only real differences between the devices being the display size and charging speeds — the S22 tops out at 25W while the S22+ packs a 45W charging capacity. The Galaxy S22+ also gains UWB and WiFi 6E capabilities.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra from $1,199
The phone everyone will want is the Galaxy S22 Ultra, a device that adds the S Pen to the lineup in way that replaces the Galaxy Note lineup entirely. In terms of display, this new phone comes with a 6.8-inch QHD+ SuperAMOLED screen with a massive 1,750 nits of peak brightness.
The same Qualcomm processor is offered with storage options all the way up to 1TB. 12GB of RAM is also offered for peak performance.
In terms of cameras, it’s a similar story to last year — a 108-megapixel camera backed up by a 12-megapixel ultrawide, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto, and 10-megapixel 10x telephoto lens. Buyers will find a 40-megapixel camera around the front.
All of the new phones are available for pre-order now with shipping to begin later this month.
