Samsung And Google Announce Free Phone Repairs For Health Workers Till June End

Both Samsung and Google have started offering free phone repairs for those who work in the health industry.

The two phone makers are working with repair company uBreakiFix on a new program. Samsung has called its offering “Free Repairs for The Frontline”.

Samsung will “provide free repair services for Samsung smartphones, including cracked screen and battery replacement, to all first responders and healthcare professionals through June 30” according to the company. Those who are eligible can send their Galaxy Android phones into uBreakiFix or take them to a location if one is nearby. Samsung is also offering the same group of people a 30% discount on new products via samsung.com.

Google’s offering is similar. “An emergency responder or healthcare professional with a Google Pixel smartphone can present his or her ID badge at any of uBreakiFix’s more than 500 participating U.S. locations to receive one free repair, regardless of the device model or type of damage,” a press release says.

Both of the two programs will run through June 30th so you have plenty of time to get your broken device repaired.

Both programs are a great way for those who are vital to the coronavirus recovery to remain mobile and have their phones when needed.  It’s great to see big companies stepping up to make these kinds of programs possible. So far we haven’t heard of a similar program from Apple, however.
