Apple confirmed yesterday that it will be holding a special event on November 10 and now Bloomberg has a new report out in which Mark Gurman says we can look forward not just one new MacBook machine, but three.
We’re already expecting there to be a new MacBook of some description and that it will likely feature Apple Silicon for the first time.
But according to Bloomberg there will be three new machines, all launching with Apple’s own chips.
Apple and overseas suppliers are ramping up production of three Mac laptops with Apple processors: new 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and a new 13-inch MacBook Air, according to people familiar with the matter. Foxconn, known also as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., is assembling the two smaller laptops, while Quanta Computer Inc. is building the larger MacBook Pro. The smaller models are further ahead in production and at least those two laptops will be shown at next week’s event. Beyond the processor switch, the devices won’t have significant design changes.
The lack of an external design change isn’t a huge surprise, however. When Apple made the switch from PowerPC chips to Intel back in 2005, it did so with the iMac. And it, again, didn’t change the design.
Apple will eventually move all of its devices to its own chips but it said during WWDC in June that it will also launch more Intel Macs before year’s end. What they will be, however, we’ll have to wait and see.
