Sony has long been rumored to have a PS5 Pro in the works, and a new report suggests that the new console could launch as soon as September.
Not just that, but the report also suggests that the official name for the console will in fact be PlayStation 5 Pro. The report also claims to have information on the console’s design, too.
According to leaker billbil-kin, in a report via Dealabs, the PlayStation 5 Pro packaging has been glimpsed as the launch gets ever closer. The imagery hasn’t been shared due to obvious copyright issues but an illustration appears to show a design that is similar to that of the existing PS5. The console is thought to be white, like the current model, while two USB-C ports and a power button can be seen on the front of the console itself.
In fact, it’s thought that the only real difference between the PS5 and the PlayStation 5 Pro will be three black stripes that run along the side plates, but it’s unclear what that denotes — if anything at all.
It also isn’t yet clear whether a version of the PlayStation 5 Pro will ship with a physical disc drive or be digital-only, while a standard PS5 DualSense controller is expected to come with the PlayStation 5 Pro. The controller will be the same as the ones we’ve all been using for some time now, so don’t expect any changes there.
In terms of other changes, the device is already expected to offer up to 50% more performance which should allow games to offer improved graphics when designed for the console specifically.
