Sony has released a new update for the PS5 that adds a few new features, not least the ability to store PS5 games on external storage for the first time.
Don’t get too excited, though. You can’t play games from there – you’ll need to move them over to the PS5’s internal storage to be able to play.
Sony will eventually get around to adding support for third-party M.2 storage which could be around the corner. Until then, this is the best we have and it should at least be quicker to move games around without having to download them all over again.
Other improvements include new options for disabling in-game chat, while gamers can now also search their library of purchased games while also hiding those that they don’t want to see.
Developers can now also have the PS5 pre-download updates when the console is in rest mode, too. That should prevent us from firing up the console to find that we need to download an update before we can play.
Sony continues to roll updates to the PS5 software out but there’s no doubt we’re all waiting for that M.2 support. Come on Sony, we just want to give you more money!
