App Store pricing is often referred to as a race to the bottom, but that doesn’t mean that every app has to be free. Some developers, usually the ones with quality apps, dare to charge a fair price for their wares, and that’s the way it should be. That being said, there’s no better way to get some attention for your paid-for app than to make it free for a limited time. Free downloads count towards an app’s App Store chart ranking even when it moves back into the ‘Paid’ chart, which should in turn mean more sales. It’s genius really, when you think about it.
This weekend three apps that have caught our eye doing this very thing are Moves, Infinite Eye and PDF PROvider. All three normally cost anything up to $7 and, as you’ve probably worked out by now, they’re all free for a limited time. In fact, all the aforementioned apps will return to their normal price come Monday morning, so now’s the time to get downloading.
Moves (iPhone only)
Bought by Facebook just a few days ago, Moves usually costs $2.99, but for the weekend it can be yours for absolutely nothing. What you’ll get is a fitness tracker for your iPhone, and a very good one at that. Using your phone’s many built-in movement-measuring gizmos, the Moves app will attempt to track your movement throughout the day, even recognizing the difference between walking and driving in a car so as to not mis-report statistics. Moves even supports the iPhone 5s’s M7 chip for even more accuracy. It’s a great app at $3, and at free it’s even better.

Infinite Eye (iPhone and iPad)
Actually free for the rest of April (regular price is $3.99), Infinite Eye is an iPhone and iPad app that creates a visual feedback tunnel using the device’s built-in camera. The end results can be mind-bending, and if you throw them up onto a big-screen TV at parties, you’re guaranteed to get everyone’s attention. Just don’t use it after a few too many drinks, because it’s going to warp your mind as things are!

PDF PROvider (iPad only)
Available only as an iPad app, PDF PROvider is an all-in-one PDF solution for creating, editing and converting PDFs. Oh, and you can just use it to view them too, should you so wish. Integration with Dropbox, Box and iTunes file sharing makes getting PDFs into PDF PROvider is as easy as pie, and considering its normal price of $6.99, you really should pick this up while it’s free.

We love paying for apps that are worth the asking price, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like a bargain too. Grab all three apps now, while the going’s good!
