Poll: Did iOS 8.0.2 Fix Your iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Woes?

iOS 8, which saw the light of day merely 10 days back, held so much promise for users in terms of new features and apps. Yet, the public release of the new iPhone and iPad software was plagued by bugs and issues all over. To that end, Apple had to push out iOS 8.0.1 in less than a week to fix some of the major challenges and bugs in the new software. However, iOS 8.0.1 turned out to be a tragic story of its own; the "fixed" update broke more than what it had patched. For most iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users, the update ended up breaking cellular service and Touch ID, effectively making their shiny new iPhones a smaller version of the iPad mini (with a beefed up hardware). Thus came iOS 8.0.2.

The just-released iOS 8.0.2 promised not only all the patches and bug fixes included in the original 8.0.1 update, but also fixes for the cellular and Touch ID issues. The update is being pushed via OTA to all the iOS users across all devices, weighing it at just 72 MB. The installation is pretty simple and just as always before, and this time around, there is a fix for HealthKit as well which should allow compatible apps to be distributed through the App Store. But the question isn’t what’s new and what’s included; it’s whether iOS 8.0.2 actually fixed the cellular signal and Touch ID issues or not.

The reason we bring this up, is because even after the 8.0.2 update, some users are reporting the same cellular signal issues remain persistent. Interestingly, most of these reports are originating from countries other than the U.S., and very few, if any at all, have surfaced from America. Thus, it cannot be said with certainty that the update served its purpose or not (the problem can be owing to the band and frequency difference). Therefore, we ask you, our readers, whether you’re facing any issues after updating to iOS 8.0.2 or not.

It should also be remembered whilst answering this question that the Touch ID and cellular service issues affected only the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. All older devices – iPhone 4s through iPhone 5s – remained unaffected. So, is your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus running just fine on iOS 8.0.2, or was this one in vain, too? Take part in our poll below and let us know.
