Pod2g Considers Switching To Android: iOS 7 Is The ‘Worst Move Apple Did In A Long Time’

A pivotal member of the scene, he's never been a fan of iOS's closed-source nature, but thanks to iOS 7, a release he describes as Apple's "worst move" for a long time, he may now even be considering a switch to Android:

After a few days of iOS 7 beta 1 testing, I must admit that I am about to switch to an Android device.

This is a very big statement from somebody so renowned for working with iOS, but his rant did not conclude at promises to jump ship. Elaborating on his reasoning behind the disdain for iOS 7, he tweeted:

iOS 7 design is awful, it's slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it's full of UI bugs and crashes.

Pod2g tweets about his thoughts on iOS 7, switch to Android.

While he did acknowledge that, since it's a beta 1 release, these kinds of issues are perhaps to be expected, he's still far from impressed with what Apple has come up with in its follow up to the PR nightmare that was iOS 6. As well facing heavy criticism for what many saw as underwhelming new features, the iOS 6 Maps app forced Tim Cook into a public apology, and with several security issues forcing swift updates around the time of the Evasi0n jailbreak, the pressure was certainly on Apple to deliver the goods.

But has the company done this? Well, Pod2g certainly does not think so, and he's not alone in his opinions. With Jony Ive being such a cult figure within the Cupertino company, many had blindly placed their faith in the Englishman, but as John Gruber correctly predicted before WWDC kicked off last week, iOS 7 has proven the most polarizing release in the history of Apple's iconic mobile platform.

What do you think, has Apple taken the idea of change much too far? Or is the world just struggling to cope with the fact that the look and feel of iOS won't be staying the same forever? Do share your thoughts below!

Since the launch of iOS 7 beta 1 last Monday following its announcement at WWDC, it’s fair to say that not everybody has been won over. The Cupertino’s decision to make some, quite frankly, dramatic changes has left even long-time iOS users bemused, and one in particular, jailbreak legend Pod2g, has taken to Twitter to voice his displeasure.

As confirmed iOS users go, Pod2g has to be right up there. Having developed for and hacked Apple’s mobile ecosystem for years, he is one quarter of the prolific Evad3rs team responsible for the big Evasi0n iOS 6 jailbreak.
