Sony’s Xperia series of Android based smartphones are known for their great hardware and tasteful Android skinning, but when it comes to sales, other manufacturers like Samsung and ASUS (with their tablets) have them beat.
Now, in order to further differentiate their products, Sony is working on marrying the Xperia series of products with their much more influential PlayStation brand with the new PlayStation Mobile store. Check out the details after the jump.
The news comes from the folks over at TheVerge – a popular consumer electronics blog – in the form of a short post in which they discuss the new service.
Named PlayStation Mobile, the service lets you enjoy small, mobile-friendly games on PlayStation Certified smartphones, tablets and the PS Vita. It works seamlessly with your PlayStation Network ID so once you purchase a title, you can play it from any of the previously mentioned devices.
The service is currently available in the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, UK, Australia and Spain. Support for more countries is in the pipeline.
