Philips, the biggest name in smart lights that work throughout the home teased that it would soon be launching bulbs for use outside of it back in January.
Now, it has taken a step further by announcing when the bulbs will be on sale and how much Hue fans will have to pay in order to bathe their gardens in multicolored light.
Starting in July, Philips says that it will be selling three different types of outdoor lights across the United States and Europe, all offering different lighting solutions depending on what users require for their specific needs.
Extending the Philips Hue range even further, from wall mounted luminaires, to spot lighting and pillar posts, Philips Hue’s outdoor range offers the freedom to extend Hue features and functionality to any outside area, be it a garden, terrace or balcony. The new Philips Hue outdoor products span both the Philips Hue white and Philips Hue white and color ambiance ranges, allowing users to improve the security of their home for added peace of mind as well as creating the perfect outdoor ambiance, all with the simple tap of a button.
The cheapest of the new solutions will be Luminaires. Designed to be easily mounted near a door or to act as a replacement for more traditional motion-activated lights, these will be available in a range of different looks and will start at the surprisingly low price of $29.99.
Moving to the very top of the price tree, we have Lily spotlights, intended to highlight particular features in a garden such as plants or flowers.
A new unique spotlight, the Philips Hue Lily, can be used to highlight the key design features in your garden, illuminating beautiful flower beds, or potted plants by choosing from the 16 million colors available via the Philips Hue app.
The item requiring lighting better be special, though – the Lily spotlights will cost $279.99, although that does get you a pack of three.
Finally, we have the Calla bollard lights, perfect for lighting the way down a path of a driveway. A start pack will set buyers back $129.99.
Philips Hue Calla is perfect for path lighting and can also be used to enhance your outdoor space. Simply choose a color which suits your mood, or even go one step further and change your lighting to reflect your guest’s favorite color palette, dimming to create a more intimate setting as the night draws on.
Philips Hue is undoubtedly the go-to brand for smart bulbs right now, and if you already have a home decked out in kit with a Hue logo on it, going the same route with your external lighting is probably a no-brainer. Roll on, July, we say!
