If you’re in the market for some new string lights to wrap around the Christmas tree this year, look no further. The new Festavia string lights from Philips Hue are here.
The lights run for 20 meters across a cable that includes 250 mini smart LEDs. Those LEDs are good for 16 million colors, we’re told, and they don’t all need to be the same color, either.
That means that you can create gradients and other effects all using the Philips Hue app on your phone. There’s support for Apple HomeKit, Amazon’s Alexa, and Google Assistant for other controls, too.
While the promo shots show the Festavia lights used around a Christmas tree, they can obviously be used anywhere and all-year round, too. Whether it’s around a desk or under a kitchen counter, these things will create a great lighting effect.
As well they should, because they definitely aren’t cheap. Philips Hue parent company Signify says that they will go on sale on November 15 and sell for $160 which, frankly, is a lot of money.
But it might be worth it considering the Spotify music integration that makes the lights dim and flash to audio. Other features include Scattered mode that spreads colors across the light randomly as well as Sparkle that makes them twinkle, too.
The Festavia lights might be expensive, but they’re going to look great on Christmas eve!
