Investing an an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will be an expensive gig, whether you decide to pay for the handset fully up front, or split the cost over a contract with one of the many carriers that offer them. With the price of a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus running up a bill of almost $1,000 unlocked, it’s reasonable to suggest that a sizeable portion of iPhone 6 buyers will want to keep their device beyond the one-year shelf life, which also coincides with the duration of the manufacturer warranty. After that year is up, there’s a good chance that you might have to pay for repairs, and now, Apple has divulged the price list for out-of-warranty iPhone 6 and 6 Plus repairs.
Given that we’re just a day or two into the iPhone 6’s lifespan, it’s going to be quite a while before anybody’s warranty has expired, but if you happen to, say, accidentally crack your device’s display and you’re not insured, you may have to check with Apple and organize a repair. The cost of repairing or replacing an iPhone 6 Plus display will run you up a bill of $129, which is in line with what you can expect to shell out for a display replacement on most of the older iPhones, although notably, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6’s display can be replaced or fixed for slightly cheaper, at $109.
For general repairs, i.e. issues that would not be described as a broken screen, the cost differs once again between the two new handsets. For the smaller, 4.7-inch iPhone 6, you’re looking an outlay of $299, and if you wish to get your iPhone 6 Plus fixed outside of warranty, expect to be coughing up the hefty price of $329.
As aforementioned, and as you’ll surely be more than aware, iPhones don’t come cheap. For the $329 cost to repair an iPhone 6 Plus, you could quite easily go out and buy a fairly high-end Android device with a large display, LTE, NFC, and most of the other perks included within the 5.5-inch Apple phablet. But as has been proved time and again, folks are happy to stump up vast sums of money to get their hands on the Cupertino company’s latest and greatest, and as these repair figures prove, you may wind up spending even more further down the line in order to maintain your beloved handset’s working order.
