Apple’s WWDC 2022 opening keynote is often one of the most important events of the year and this year looks set to be no different. The event will kick off at 10am and we’re in for a treat.
As part of the big WWDC22 opening keynote, we expect Apple to share details of software updates including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13, and tvOS 16.
While none of those updates are likely to be made available to the public until around September time, we do expect Apple to make early developer betas available for download so that’s something to look for later today.
In terms of what those updates will offer, we’re told by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman that the watchOS 9 update will be a “significant” one, although we don’t yet know for sure what that will entail. The iOS 16 update is expected to feature some new lock screen features, while new rumors of an updated multitasking system coming to iPadOS 16 could turn out to be true.
In terms of hardware, not a lot is really known at this point. There is still an outside chance that Apple could announce its much-rumored mixed reality headset, although that seems less likely than ever. A newly refreshed MacBook Air is a possibility, likely with a new Apple-designed M2 chip beating at its heart, but again, we don’t know for sure.
Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too much longer before we do find out — the opening day of WWDC22 kicks off soon!
