OS X Yosemite 10.10 might only have been around for a few short weeks, but already, Apple has begun work on a future update to its desktop software. OS X 10.10.1 beta has just hit the download channels, the details of which you may find below.
The public release of OS X 10.10 Yosemite hasn’t been a complete disaster, although many users have reported of experiencing bugs and issues throughout. A few kinks and teething issues are somewhat expected so early on in any piece of software’s life cycle, and given that iOS 8 has been afflicted by its fair share of problems since its September roll-out, we should probably have foreseen these initial imperfections.
Still, Apple is being typically prompt with its response, and OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite, which has been handed the build number 14B17, has just been made available through the Mac Dev Center.
Apple has yet to outline the specific changes therein, although we’d assume that at least some of those aforementioned bugs will have been sorted out with this first beta. The main problem plaguing Yosemite users pertains to Wi-Fi, which has left many users facing troubles when trying to connect to a hotspot. Given that connectivity is an integral component of OS X as a whole, it’s of paramount importance that this situation is rectified post-haste, and therefore, the Cupertino company is asking that devs focus on Wi-Fi as well as Mail Exchange accounts and the Notification Center.
Apple prides itself on a reputation for delivering streamlined software that is fit for purpose, but while OS X Yosemite will hopefully reach this point in the not-so-distant, it’s very much a work in progress at its current duration.
So, if you’re a developer and looking to jump on the new and OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite beta (14B17), then you can do so via the Software Update feature found within the Mac App Store app.
We’ll be installing and having a look through this new release, and shall report back with any interesting findings.
