OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search Is Now Available

OpenAI has finally launched ChatGPT Search on the web as an alternative to Google Search.

OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT can now search the web more effectively than ever before. It can now provide links to relevant web sources, similar to a traditional search engine.

Here’s how it works according to OpenAI:

ChatGPT can now search the web in a much better way than before. You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more.

ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what you ask, or you can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon.

ChatGPT Search, powered by ChatGPT-4o, is now available on the ChatGPT website, desktop, and mobile apps for ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Teams users. OpenAI is also extending access to ChatGPT users who were on the SearchGPT waitlist today. Enterprise and education users can expect the feature in the next few weeks. ChatGPT Search will gradually roll out to all free users over the coming months.
