One of the most incessantly annoying features of iOS’s functionality is the fact that whenever you open up an App Store link in your browser, in the Notes app, or within any other app for that matter, it automatically jumps away from what you’re doing, and takes you straight to the page of the game or app in App Store app. This rather irritating trait is also manifested on OS X, with iTunes popping up by default when you’re just looking to check out an app’s reputation in your browser. Luckily, jailbreaks mean the pet peeves of most users can be nullified, and with a nifty little tweak by the name of QuickStore, clicked App Store links will appear in a versatile pop-up window as opposed to dragging you away from your app-in-hand.
For all of its strengths, iOS still doesn’t offer much by way of customization. Unless you’re jailbroken and have installed a tweak like BrowserChooser, for example, your Web links will automatically open in Mobile Safari, which is incredibly grating if, like many, you use Chrome, iCab, Skyfire or Dolphin; to name a few.
The same goes for App Store links. Natively, it’s that all-to familiar "this is what you’re going to be using – take it or leave it" approach, and while plenty are happy to whimsically plod along and accept these limitations, those looking for more control over their device will always pursue jailbreaks.
When installed, QuickStore allows you to open links in a pop-up window, and while this window does in fact cover your whole screen, it can be easily slipped in and out of sight, without forcing you back to the home screen. Check out the video for a better insight:
Many are talking about new and exciting changes with iOS 7, but there are plenty of basic functions still lacking with Apple’s famed mobile operating system. Like all feature-filling tweaks, QuickStore is essentially a must-download for anybody with a jailbroken device, since there’s no reason why anybody would opt for less functionality over more.
