Windows 8 has now been out for a couple of weeks, and although many Metro-fied apps were ready for the big launch on the 26th of last month, the big applications from the biggest names are still being released by the hour. Video streaming outlet Vimeo is the latest to join the likes of Skype and The Weather Channel for Windows 8, and the new app allows users to carry out a range of functions with apparent ease.

The site is a honey trap for some of the world’s filmmaking talent, and while YouTube can sometimes become cluttered with useless clips, Vimeo has always maintained an image of decency. Having initially launched back in 2004, Vimeo has 65 million unique users, and off the back of a major website revamp back in January of this year, it’s really established itself as one of the foremost services in its field. Advocating high-quality, the overhaul brought support for even larger videos, and while it does compete directly with the likes of YouTube and Dailymotion, it has its own niche appeal.
