If you’re in the market for a new MacBook, now probably isn’t a great time to buy one with Apple reportedly working on launching as many as four new models in 2024.
Speaking in his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple is working towards new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros that are set to be powered by the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips.
Those laptops are now in the design validation testing (DVT) phase of testing which means that they are almost ready for mass production. That means that we can probably expect the MacBook Pros to arrive at some point between early 2024 and the spring of the year.
As for the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Airs, they’re expected to be powered by M3 chips which are now thought to be in the engineering verification stage (EVT) which is an earlier stage of the development process. That means that the new MacBook Airs are likely to arrive between the spring and summer of next year.
Both of these timeframes do match the previous release schedules of the current M2 models which adds further credence to the suggestion these machines will ship in the timeframes mentioned by Gurman.
However, there’s no mention yet on when the 13-inch MacBook Pro will arrive, a device that will also use the same M3 chips as the MacBook Airs.
