Nike’s FuelBand SE accessory is more than just an activity tracker, or, at least, it has become much more than that, which is evident from the variety of color variants that the accessory is available in under Nike’s Metaluxe Collection. Now, joining the ranks along side Black, Pink Foil, Total Crimson, Volt and Rose Gold is the newly released Silver Edition, which will become available through the company’s official retail stores starting Jan. 19 with a price tag of $169.
Functionality wise, the silver variant of FuelBand SE is exactly the same as any other in the line up, including the cheaper Sports Pack series ones. In essence, the device remains an activity tracker with a touch of social twist, meaning that it won’t just measure the intensity and duration of your workouts, but also enable easily sharing through social media for boasting in front of your friends. However, as we mentioned earlier, beyond the color differences, all versions of the FuelBand SE remain same, so if looks aren’t your big thing, you won’t lose anything getting one from the Sports Pack.
The introduction of a silver FuelBand SE, however, and that too, in such proximity to the recent launch of the Rose Gold FuelBand SE, indicates a trend that is far from usage – FuelBand SE is a fashion accessory. You don’t get sold out on a niche product in a matter of days should your customers not see more value in it than others, and the fact is, should you visit Nike’s website and look for the Rose Gold variant, they’re all sold out. The variety of color choices that the Metaluxe Collection offers is only testament to Nike fully realizing its customers’ trends and preferences, and then delivering upon those rather than forcing its own will.

The silver version, despite being $20 more than the normal one, offers you something in stainless steel that you can wear no matter where you go. The fact that the Chrome finishing will perfectly complement the accompanying iPhone is an added plus. For a summary opinion, there’s a hard chance that you’ll ever regret the extra bucks that you throw in for the Metaluxe Collection, especially if such accessories are your thing.
