Apple will announce a new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro pairing during the WWDC opening keynote on June 7. That’s according to a new report by Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives.
According to Ives, via a research note seen by MacRumors, Apple will have a “few surprises” in store. Rumors of new MacBook Pro hardware have been swirling for weeks and now it looks increasingly likely that an announcement is imminent.
The upcoming MacBook Pros, which are already rumored to include several new changes such as the removal of the Touch Bar, a more flat-edged design, the return of the HDMI port, an SD card slot, and MagSafe magnetic charging, are likely to feature a more powerful iteration of the M1 chip, or even possibly M2. Apple announced the M1 chip last November, and since its initial debut in the low-end MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini, the chip has expanded to a new 24-inch iMac and the iPad Pro.
Apple’s WWDC event’s opening keynote is just days away and we’re already expecting big new software announcements by way of iOS 15, macOS 12, and more.
It isn’t unheard of for Apple to announce hardware during what is ostensibly a developer and software event, so Ives could be right here.
Ives’ research note also backs up previous reports that the iPhone 13 lineup will offer a 1TB storage option for the first time, too.
