Tesla’s service manual has managed to accidentally leak a new sports seat for the Model S Plaid. The news comes after a previous report that claimed Tesla was working on sports seats for the updated Model 3 Performance.
References to the new seats were spotted by Reddit user S3pirion and then picked up by the EV watchers at Electrek.
The leak also appears to show instructions on how to remove the seats should the need arise.
As for what’s new, Electrek notes that here are some changes compared to the seats already offered in the Model S.
The picture shows a new shape that differs from the seats currently found in the Model S. The headrest is also longer, and obviously you have a new hole in the middle with what appears to be some sort of Plaid logo.
It’s also thought that the seats’ material has also been updated, while it remains unclear if these seats will be available on other vehicles or if they will be limited to the Model S Plaid. We also don’t have information on when these seats will be made available, either.
Electrek also notes that this is one of the few physical changes that Tesla offers for its performance vehicles. Normally only the suspension and brakes are upgraded, with the extra power often unlocked via software rather than any difference in the hardware made available per vehicle.
