Apple is again rumored to be working on a new OLED iPad Pro, with a launch taking place as soon as next year. Another release is expected in 2026, according to a report.
That report comes via Korea’s ET News which says that Samsung has already started working on the OLED panels that will be used in the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models.
There is also talk of a new 14-inch model as well as a 16-inch MacBook Pro, too.
The specific types of panels are 10.86 inches and 12.9 inches for the iPad, and 14 inches and 16 inches for the MacBook. The domestic display companies and related parts and material companies began to develop the panels with the start of the official project. An insider familiar with the subject said, “Panel development from 10 inches to 16 inches is in progress.
The current iPad Pro lineup is split between mini-LED technology in the 12.9-inch model and LCD in the smaller 11-inch one, so the move to OLED would be an even bigger jump for those buying the more diminutive iPad Pro. It’s also likely that Apple will ultimately move the iPad Pro to a micro-LED technology, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reporting that the company is already working on the move for the Apple Watch Ultra.
Apple is set to also begin using micro-LED across its iPhone, iPad, and Mac lineups in due course, Gurman says.
