Tesla has announced a new Cybertruck software update that is going to add new off-roading capabilities to the electric truck, including CyberTent mode.
The Cybertruck has been available for a couple of months although deliveries have now been paused while issues with an accelerator pedal are dealt with.
However. even for those who already have their truck parked on their driveway, the Cybertruck’s software is not yet complete. This latest announcement goes some way to fixing that, however.
Tesla took to the X social network to officially announce the new off-road mode features while it also confirmed that more features will be added via updates that will be rolling out soon.
The announcement includes two new modes including Overland Mode and Baja Mode. Both are designed to set the Cybertruck up for specific types of terrain, while the Cybertruck is also gaining locking differentials for improved off-road handling.
Perhaps the most interesting addition is CyberTent Mode, a feature that will allow people to turn their Cybertruck into a moving hotel, of sorts. The mode has three levels of suspension and automatically keeps the surface flat for the CyberTent. The tonneau cover will also be opened while lights, AC, and power outlets will also stay on if enabled by the user.
However, Tesla has not yet confirmed when the new software update will roll out, simply saying that it will arrive “soon.”
