New Nintendo Switch 2 Details Leak From Someone Who Claims To Have Seen One

Nintendo has so far announced very little about the next Nintendo Switch other than the fact that it intends to announce it in the first quarter of 2025.

But now a new leak might have answered some questions, starting with what the device will be called.

One Redditor called NextHandheld claims to have seen a retail version of what now appears to be called the Nintendo Switch 2, and they shared more information with The Verge which has left the website seemingly convinced that the leak is legit.

According to the leaker and The Verge, the Nintendo Switch 2 could be released as soon as January. Images of the second-gen dock have been shared with The Verge and it appears that while there are no new ports to speak of there will be a “different trick up its sleeve”. What that will be remains to be seen.

It also appears that Nintendo is doing away with its previous rail-based Joy-Con attachment system in favor of a new magnetic one. The theory is that Joy-Cons will simply connect to the side of the Switch using magnets, making them easier to swap out when the need arises.

It will also presumably fix the issue that some people have experienced that sees Joy-Cons not detected due to a failure in those rails.

We can expect more details to be shared sooner rather than later if that rumored January release window turns out to be accurate. The leaker also claims to have proof of his claims that will be shared on Christmas Day, too.
