Apple is now expected to announce new Macs this week with some suggesting that they could arrive as soon as Tuesday, January 17.
With Apple now expected to announce new products imminently it looks increasingly likely that the company will share a press release and add the devices to the Apple Store without the need for a media event.
Instead, it appears that press will be invited to local hands-on events instead.
9to5Mac reports that its own sources say that briefings will be held this week, with an embargo set for January 23. That would suggest that the new devices will go on sale shortly after that.
9to5Mac has been told by an anonymous tipster that the briefings will be held on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, with an embargo slated for Monday, January 23. This pattern makes sense and matches what we’ve seen in the past: an announcement on Tuesday, briefings and review unit distribution on Wednesday and Thursday, and a review embargo lift on the next Monday.
As for what these items are, it seems most likely that Apple is finally getting around to announcing its newly updated MacBook Pros.
The 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro notebooks are expected to ship with new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips inside, but no big external changes are expected.
