Apple’s WWDC23 event is now very much just around the corner with the opening keynote kicking off on June 5.
While all of the talk is about the Reality Pro AR/VR headset it’s fair to say that there is now some growing expectation that we will see multiple new Macs announced — with one of them being a new Mac Studio.
At this point the arrival of the 15-inch MacBook Air seems to be almost guaranteed, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously surprised some by saying that Apple was testing new Macs with M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips.
That was following another comment that said that Apple was ready to announce several Macs at WWDC. So what’s coming?
Now, Gurman says that Apple is ready to announce a new Mac that is codenamed J475. That’s notable because the codename for the current Mac Studio was J375, suggesting that an updated model will arrive on June 5.
Can confirm Apple is nearing the introduction of a new Mac codenamed J475. What’s the codename of the current Mac Studio? J375. https://t.co/X4f2n2Mtni

That would make it the best Mac for a whole lot of people, specifically creatives and those whose workflows require the best Mac available. It also might mean that we won’t see Apple announce its first Apple silicon Mac Pro as was first hoped. That Mac Pro is now very much overdue, and the current model is the last one in Apple’s lineup to sell with an Intel chip inside.
