New iPhone 6 Renders Show Rumored Curved Glass, Rounded Edges, Relocated Power Button

If there was ever any doubt that we’re now firmly in the midst of an iPhone rumor storm, then it’s fairly safe to say that the events of the last few days should put to rest any lingering wonderments.

As time rumbles on it’s becoming increasingly likely that there may well be something to the latest round of rumors that point to the iPhone 6 eschewing the design principles of all iPhones since 2010’s iPhone 4 in favor of a more rounded design. Yesterday the folks over at MacOtakara said that their trusted sources believed that rather than the flat, squared edges of the iPhone 4/4s and iPhone 5/5s, the iPhone 6 will feature an altogether more rounded design that would undoubtedly fit in the hand more comfortably than Apple’s current offering. Of course, reading about these things is all well and good, but seeing is believing, so when someone makes a render based on rumors, things start to get interesting.

That’s exactly what designer Martin Hajek has done, and in collaboration with French website Nowhereelse.fr, he’s released some impressions of what the iPhone 6 may look like based on the most recent rumors.

As you might expect, the first thing that catches the eye is that rounded chassis. Anyone familiar with the original iPhone will immediately be reminded of that when looking at these renders. The iPhone 6 would obviously be considerably thinner than the original iPhone, but it’s certainly reminiscent of the handset that started it all.

The Galaxy S3-like slightly curved screen (towards the edges – don’t get too carried away) is also in effect, and those paying attention will also notice the newly relocated power button, too. We’re fans of the current iPhone’s top-mounted sleep/wake/power button right now, but there’s little arguing that larger phones can’t accommodate that placement, so we expect to see if move if the rumors of the iPhone experiencing a screen-size jump this year turn out to be accurate.

Few can argue that the renders don’t depict one good-looking iPhone indeed. There’s no saying how accurate they are just yet of course, but as announcement day draws ever nearer, expect more concrete leaks and hopefully photos, begin to either disprove or corroborate the latest round of rumors.
