We heard earlier this year that there was the possibility that Apple could be launching a new iPad Air with a redesign that did away with the Home button. Now we’re going one better, with a pamphlet leaking that shows exactly that.
The pamphlet, shared via Twitter by @DuanRui, shows an iPad Air with no Home button but also without any Face ID.
That’s because the biometric security is handled by a Touch ID feature that’s built into the power button. That would be the first time such a thing has been brought to an Apple device and might suggest it could come to a future iPhone, too.
The similarities with the 11-inch iPad Pro are obvious here, not just in terms of the small bezels and lack of Home button. This iPad Air also has a USB-C port, rather than the Lightning that we’re accustomed to on non-iPad Pro tablets.
While it’s possible that this pamphlet has been Photoshopped, there are no obvious signs that is the case here. It’s also worth noting that we’ve been hearing rumors of a new iPad Air for a while and this pamphlet matches up with those rumors. Not to mention the recent appearance of multiple new iPads in the Eurasian regulatory commission’s database.
It’s likely Apple will announce the new tablet in the next few weeks, alongside new iPhones and a new Apple Watch. We’ll likely hear more about it between now and then, too.
