New In iOS 18: Pause And Resume Video Recording On iPhone

Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 software update will bring with it a number of new features and improvements over the previous software updates, but one of them has only just been discovered.

During Apple’s iPhone 16 device announcement, the company confirmed that iOS 18 will allow people to pause the recording of video recordings for the first time.

The option will make it easier for people to switch from one shot to another without having to create multiple videos to do so.

Pressing the pause button while recording video will pause the recording, as you’d expect. Pressing the same button again will then see the video recording resume. The usual method of pressing the stop button will cease the recording completely, as was always the case.

The new feature is already available as part of the new iOS 18 Release Candidate update which is already available to developers and public beta testers. It’s also likely that the new software feature will be supported by the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro‘s new Camera Control button, but that is as-yet unconfirmed.

The iOS 18 software update has now been confirmed for a launch to the public on Monday, September 16 with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro set to go on sale to the public on September 20.

Following the launch, the iOS 18.1 software update is set to be made available to the world in October and will bring with it support for Apple Intelligence for the first time.
