Apple’s iOS 17 was announced during an event on June 5 and the company almost immediately made the first developer build available for download.
Now, as people put that beta through its paces, we’re starting to learn more about what features the iOS 17 update has to offer.
While Apple shared some details, there are lots of smaller improvements that we didn’t know about until people installed iOS 17 on their own devices. One of those improvements appears to be the ability to share passwords stored in iCloud keychain with others.
MacRumors reports that the feature is called Family Passwords.
In iOS 17, Family Passwords is designed to let you share your passwords and passkeys with friends and family members. Using the Passwords section of the Settings app, you can create a group of people to share passwords with.
The person who created the group can then edit the people within it, and each person can edit and add passwords that are then synced across the entire group of people. That could be useful for people who have a shared Netflix account across their family and want everyone to have access to the password.
Apple’s iOS 17 update is expected to be released to the public in or around September following a months-long beta program. That’s also when we expect Apple’s other software updates to arrive as well.
