The introduction of new iPhone hardware means that we will start to see an influx of more powerful and capable apps. The Photography genre within the App Store has always been one of the most vibrant, but the lack of innovation in that category has become extremely noticeable. The new powerful camera within the iPhone 5s aims to change that, a snowball effect being that we are now also seeing some fantastic new photography apps hitting the store. Tadaa SLR from menschmashine Publishing is one of the best new additions to that genre.
The app is a free-of-charge download from the iOS App Store and is compatible with all iPhones and iPod touches running iOS 6.0 and above. The whole basis of the app is to allow keen photographers an additional and retrospective layer of power when taking their photos. Rather than having to purchase an expensive camera and get all of the conditions correct from the get-go, iPhone users can now snap an image and retrospectively apply focus and depth-of-field enhancements to the image.
Tadaa SLR is extremely simple to use. Users are simply required to open up a photo from within the newly installed app before selecting an area of the image that they wish to preserve the current focus. The retain mask is applied by the user using simple touch gestures on the multi-touch display, with the next step being to actually apply a focus effect to the parts of the image that are remaining. The development team have also gone to the extra lengths on adding a few additional features such as being able to crop the image and apply different effects to the final product.
This Tadaa SLR app certainly won’t replace the expensive equipment and editing suites of professional photographers who do this sort of thing for a living. What it does do however is add to the company’s already impressive suite of photography based apps and will certainly bring a new level of beauty to the photographs to millions of iPhone users.
