Netflix is a popular online on-demand streaming media service for the USA and Canada. Subscribers can stream thousands of movies and televisions shows on a variety of devices including the Xbox 360, iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone 7.
While Android did receive an official app for Netflix sometime back, the app was limited to working on a handful of select high-end devices. The number of supported devices has increased over time, but it still isn’t an app everyone can go and install on their phone. However, a customized Netflix for Android .apk has been released by the hacking community today and it works on every Android device including Honeycomb-based tablets.
The news comes from Droid Forums where developer kevinlexsanders announced and released the app. The developer has customized the app and has managed to make it compatible with all Android devices. You do not need to have a rooted smartphone/tablet to install this.

Although we have confirmed from multiple sources that the app actually works, we suggest our readers to take a backup using Titanium before going ahead with the install. It is, after all, better to be safe than sorry.
The developer states that if you have the Netflix app installed already, you must clear its data and uninstall it before proceeding. You can do this by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Netflix and tapping on Clear Data and then Uninstall.
With that bit done, ensure that you have the Unknown sources option checked under Settings > Applications. Now you may simply download the .apk file from the link embedded below and install it.
