Microsoft has started to add support for mouse and keyboard controls to some Xbox Cloud Gaming titles with a handful of games now available.
The Verge reports that Xbox Insiders can now start playing using their mouse and keyboard when they use the Edge or Chrome web browsers while the Xbox app on Windows PCs will also work.
The move comes two years after Microsoft announced that it planned to add the feature.
Playing the games requires launching a compatible title and then playing in full-screen mode. Compatible titles include the following games:
- Fortnite (browser only)
- ARK Survival Evolved
- Sea of Thieves
- Grounded
- Halo Infinite
- Atomic Heart
- Sniper Elite 5
- Deep Rock Galactic
- High on Life
- Zombie Army 4 Dead War
- Gears Tactics
- Pentiment
- Doom 64
- Age of Empires 2
Those who start a session using their mouse and keyboard but then change their mind will be able to switch to using a controller by pressing the ALT+F9 shortcut, we’re told. For those games that support mouse and keyboard however, there will be plenty of reasons to use those with FPS games being perhaps the best example.
While the list of games is now a limited number, that’s sure to change in the future and Xbox Cloud Gaming users can expect more titles to be added in the future. For now, though, there’s a decent collection of categories covered by this group including the hugely popular Sea of Thieves and, of course, Fortnite.
