Let’s be honest here; if you are a proud owner of the fantastic HTC One smartphone then the chances are that you have it in your life because you not only love what the technical features that it offers, but also appreciate how beautiful and sleek the Taiwanese company have made the One. Mophie – the company behind the extremely popular Juice Pack accessory – have clearly understood the appeal with the HTC One and have brought their usual battery extending excellence to the device with the release of the HTC One compatible Juice Pack.
It is worth noting that HTC One owners who are looking for a little extra battery longevity from their device will need to accept the inevitable trade-off that comes when slipping the phone into the fantastic Juice Pack. It isn’t exactly a behemoth of an accessory, but using the Juice Pack with the gorgeous HTC smartphone will provide an extra 0.3 inches of thickness, bring an overall height increase of approximately 0.6 inches and pack it out in the width department also. Still, it should be a small price to pay for those occasions when an almost 100% battery boost is required.
As for the Juice Pack itself; Mophie has done what they do best and have shown that they are still worthy of commanding the top-spot when it comes to manufacturing and selling top-of-the-range battery based accessories. The pack ships with a generous 2,500 mAh battery included, is immediately available in black with the silver option, shipping in mid-May, and will set us back a cool $99.95. Once again, a relatively small price to pay for the level of power extension that is provided by the accessory.
The HTC One variant of the Juice Pack may add a little extra bulk to the device but it somehow manages to make it feel a lot more solid and contains the necessary cut-outs for inputs like the USB cable and headphones, should they be required. A simple switch on the back of the case allows the user to flick between depleting the phone’s internal battery and allowing the pack to charge the phone from it’s on-board power source. The four LEDs on the bottom rear of the Juice Pack give a clear visual indication of how much power is left before a charge is required.
The Juice Pack itself may detract a little from the stunning aesthetics of the HTC One, but the increased battery life and enhanced level of device protection that it provides definitely make this a hot accessory for HTC’s premiere Android device.
