Today at the International Consumer Electronic Show, Microsoft unveiled their second app for the iPhone platform – Microsoft Tag. Our friend Long Zheng blogged about this cool and exciting new technology which is based on High Capacity Color Barcodes (HCCBs). With the Microsoft Tag application, you just have to aim your camera phone at a Tag which will then instantly let you access mobile content, videos, music, contact information, maps, social networks, promotions, and more. Nothing to type, no browsers to launch!
Microsoft Tag creates unlimited possibilities for making interactive communications an instant, entertaining part of life. They transform physical media (print advertising, billboards, product packages, information signs, in-store merchandising, or even video images)—into live links for accessing information and entertainment online.
Microsoft Tag is available for iPhone, Windows Mobile, J2ME, Blackberry, and Symbian S60 phones. Android version of Microsoft Tag is coming soon. You can download Microsoft’s Tag Reader by browsing on your favorite device to: http://gettag.mobi.
Microsoft introduced its first iPhone application, Seadragon Mobile, in December last year.
