Microsoft Puts SwiftKey Keyboard Back On iPhone

Microsoft has brought the popular SwiftKey keyboard back to iOS and the App Store just weeks after removing it and saying that it was not going to develop it anymore. The app was going to remain on Android, however.

Microsoft first removed the SwiftKey app from the App Store in October, but Microsoft says that it brought the app back because people wanted it.

“Based on customer feedback, SwiftKey iOS has been relisted on the Apple App Store,” Microsoft’s Caitlin Roulston said in statement to The Verge. “Please visit Support.SwiftKey.com for more information.”

While the app is now back on the App Store, it looks set to start to get updates as well. Vishnu Nath, Microsoft’s VP and GM of OneNote and the Office product group teased that there would be new features coming to SwiftKey, telling users to “stay tuned to what the team ash in store for it.”

The SwiftKey keyboard was originally popular back in 2014 but was later bought by Microsoft in 2016. The removal of the app from iOS caused disappointment among its users,  although there are other third-party keyboards available on the App Store.

Those who want to get the app can now download it for free from the App Store while anyone who already has it installed should hopefully start to see new updates begin to roll in eventually.
