After all of the rumors and talk, it’s now been confirmed and has become officially official — four of Microsoft’s Xbox exclusives are no longer as exclusive as they once were. Four games are coming to the competing platforms from Nintendo and Sony.
Announced during a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves are all coming to new platforms.
Today we are announcing that four fan-favorite Xbox games will be coming to Nintendo Switch and Sony platforms this spring. The studios that built these celebrated games have drawn on their multi-platform experience to open the worlds they created to even more players and communities.
Pentiment will come to PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on February 22 while Hi-Fi Rush will ship on PS5 on March 19. Grounded comes to PS4, PS5, and Switch on April 16 while Sea of Thieves comes to PS5 on April 30.
Microsoft says that the titles join Minecraft, Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Diablo as cross-platform offerings and the move definitely doesn’t mean that Microsoft is turning its back on Xbox hardware.
The company says it still has a robust and innovative multi-year hardware roadmap while adding that the “biggest games in the world will be on Xbox.” The company also says that “compatibility with your library is a priority, inclusive of cross-play, cross-save, and robust cloud features. ”
