Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Get Live Translation And AI With New Update

Owners of the popular Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses have new features to try out after the company released a new software update. The update includes AI functionality including live translation of languages.

The new live AI and live translation features were announced via a post on the Meta website and are open to members of the company’s Early Access Program.

The first is live AI, which adds video to Meta AI on your glasses. During a live AI session, Meta AI can see what you see continuously and converse with you more naturally than ever before. Get real-time, hands-free help and inspiration with everyday activities like meal prep, gardening, or exploring a new neighborhood.

Meta says that the “Hey Meta” wakeword is not needed and that this is just the start. In the future, live AI will apparently make suggestions before the user has to ask.

As for the live translation feature, Meta says that it can translate speech in real time between English and either Spanish, French, or Italian. The use cases for the new feature are obvious, with people able to visit foreign lands and have their conversations translated on the fly using nothing more than their glasses.

Anyone not yet part of the Early Access Program can sign up now via Meta’s website. The number of available slots is limited however, and you must be in the United States or Canada to join.
