Mobile battery packs are great inventions, especially nowadays with our tendency to carry around more and more kit that needs more and more power. With phones, tablets and even watches that need juice regularly having a little brick that you can use to charge them at any given moment can be both useful and liberating in equal measure.
Unfortunately, that only works out if you remember to take the battery pack every where you go, which if we’re honest we seem wholly incapable of doing. If only there was a way of ensuring that you always have your little box of power no matter what, without having to remember to sling it into your bag every time you leave the house.
Enter Boost Band, a mobile battery charging solution that is currently up on Kickstarter, looking for a $30,000 jumpstart. With just over a month to do it, it’s likely to happen too.
The kicker with the Boost Band is that it’s a battery pack that you wear around your wrist. Now yes we know what you’re thinking. With smartwatches and fitness bands already filling our wrists with more technology and rubber than we ever thought possible, is there really room for something else? Well, if you don’t want to have to worry about power anymore then you’re going to have to find some room. Maybe an ankle?
With a capacity of 1500mAh, the battery pack actually looks quite fetching, and the Kickstarter project currently offers both black and turquoise if you choose to pledge $20 up front. That includes shipping and if we’re honest, the price isn’t a bad one.
The downside here though is the lack of a charging cable, which means even if you don’t have to remember to take your battery pack anywhere, you do need to remember a charging cable.
Which we know we won’t.
