macOS Sequoia Update Will Arrive Next Month, Report Claims

Apple’s next big Mac software update, macOS Sequoia, will be released as soon as the middle of September, according to a new report.

Apple has so far not confirmed the release date, but it’s now thought that it will launch alongside iOS 18 on the iPhone and iPadOS on the iPad.

Apple generally relates iOS and iPadOS updates in September, shortly before the arrival of new iPhones. That’s expected to once again be the case next month with iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 lineup. But macOS updates have been released in September, October, and even November in recent years which meant that it was difficult to confirm when Mac owners should expect macOS Sequoia to arrive. Now, MacRumors reports that it believes the update will be made available to the public in September.

“This year, Apple plans to release ‌macOS Sequoia‌ around the same time as iOS 18 rather than holding it until October,” MacRumors reports.

“Introducing both updates at the same time will ensure that cross-platform features are functional and working as intended,” with the new iPhone Mirroring feature being one that will require both iPhones and Macs to be updated to the latest software.

Those waiting for Apple Silicon to arrive will have to wait a little longer, however. That will be added, in beta form, when macOS Sequoia 15.1 is released to the public. That’s expected to arrive in October alongside iOS 18.1.
