We’ve been hearing more and more about what macOS 10.15 will offer when it arrives later this year, and now we have a new report that suggests we will see some features that were part of iOS 12 last year including Screen Time and Siri Shortcuts.
Citing the infamous people familiar with the development of macOS 10.15, 9to5Mac suggests that macOS 10.15 will include support for Siri Shortcuts.
This feature, found in iOS 12, allows apps to present shortcuts and actions to Siri and the system, perfect for turning complex actions into single taps. Those actions can then be kicked into gear by Siri and voice commands if a user so wishes.
The inclusion of Siri Shortcuts also opens the door for the Shortcuts app to arrive on the Mac, which may mean that the days of the popular Automator are numbered. Given the world of Marzipan that we are now starting to edge ever closer to, the move to Shortcuts makes plenty of sense given the fact many Marzipan apps will already be configured for it over on iPhone and iPad.
Another feature likely to make the jump from iOS 12 to the Mac is Screen Time. Apple’s digital wellbeing feature allows users to keep tabs on which apps they are using and for how long, as well as limit how much time children spend in certain kinds of apps.
Again, this arriving on the Mac was surely only a matter of time, and 9to5Mac believes this will happen when Apple shows macOS 10.15 off to developers at WWDC in June.
