Apple’s next media event will take place in New York on October 30th, and during that event, a few things are likely to happen or are at least possible. Updated iPad Pros are almost a certainty at this point, as is a refreshed Apple Pencil. However, rumors of revamped Mac lineups will not go away, and now we may have some more information that points towards an updated, or completely replaced, MacBook Air.
This information comes in the form of an email from Apple to one of its K-12 education customers. That customer placed an order for an iPad, an Apple Pencil, and a MacBook Air. While the iPad and accompanying Apple Pencil shipped, the MacBook Air did not, with an email from Apple saying that the MacBook Air would instead ship on October 30th. That’s quite the coincidence, given that’s the date that Apple is holding a media event.
The suspicion here is that Apple is either going to refresh the MacBook Air as has been expected for some time or replace it completely. A MacBook Air with a Retina display has been in the cards for a long, long time and current rumors have there potentially being a new MacBook that will replace the Air on the bottom rung of Apple’s notebook pricing ladder.
Of course, this email may be a red herring and Apple may just ship out a normal MacBook Air come the end of next week, but as they say, there’s no smoke without fire.
We’d suggest this may be the start of a little fire rather than a full-blown blaze, but it does give us more reason to be intrigued by next week’s event.
