Mac Mini And Apple TV Sees Price Cuts In Europe, UK

Apple today launched a new, entry-level iMac to the fold, and as is often the case with hardware upgrades and refreshes from the fruit company, we’ve also got a spate of price drops to report on. Across much of Europe, the standalone Mac mini desktop computer and Apple TV set-top are both now cheaper than previously priced, while the iMac has also been treated to a health price-drop in the United Kingdom.

It emerged back last week that Apple was preparing to roll out some new Mac hardware, and today’s announcement of the lower-end 21.5-inch iMac has ensured that the sources cited in those reports were spot-on with their forecasts.

For UK customers, the standard 21.5-inch version of the iMac is now £100 cheaper, while the more sizeable, 27-inch model can be had at a very healthy £150 saving on the previous retail price. Unfortunately, this new iMac pricing structure seems only to apply to British consumers at this point, but if you don’t happen to be based in the UK or, indeed, are not looking to pick up an iMac at this point in time, Apple has a couple of other enticing savings on the table.

Apple TV, the company’s famed set-top, has been reduced to from €109 in Europe or £99 in the UK, to just €99/£79, which is a substantial reduction that will give potential Roku / Google Chromecast buyers some food for thought. In the U.S., however, the little black box will still continue to retail at $99.

The Mac mini is a great acquisition for those in search of a powerful, compact OS X machine, and given how much more customizable it is than the MacBook and iMac ranges, is the rig of choice for many a Mac fan. In Europe, you can save between €30 and €60 on a brand-new Mac mini, depending on whereabouts you happen to reside and which flavor of the desktop you require.

The entry-level Mac mini now retails at €619 for the most part, although a small cluster of nations – notably Germany – can snap the base model up for just €599. In the United Kingdom, meanwhile, the cheapest Mac mini will still set you back £499, but the quad-core and server editions sees very small price cuts.
