Apple has been rumored to be working to bring Siri to the Mac for a good long while and, all things being equal, it’s probably something that should have been added to OS X by now. For whatever reason, though, Siri is still an iOS, watchOS and tvOS-only affair, at least for now.
That may be on the verge of changing, though, with a new rumor again claiming that Apple is developing a version of Siri for the Mac. What makes this new rumor particularly interesting, however, is the inclusion of not one, but two screenshots that appear to corroborate claims that Siri is Mac-bound. The screenshots, which show Siri icons in both the Dock and menu bar of OS X, are the clearest indication yet that Siri for Mac is being tested.
The important word there is “tested,” because while it is now looking likely that Siri on Mac is being developed within Apple, the latest rumor on the subject has Siri very much in development but not yet ready for prime time.
According to the latest claims, clicking the menu bar or Dock icons will reveal the now well-known Siri waveform interface, which will act as the user’s indication that it is time to speak. Anyone who has used an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Apple TV with Siri will immediately feel at home.
While it is indeed true that screenshots can be faked, MacRumors is quick to point out that the particular person who provided these new screenshots has proven accurate in the past, so with that in mind, we can do no more than suggest a grain of salt would we worth keeping handy, just in case
